Year Round Programs
Seniors Share: Program involves healthy seniors in the restoration of toys. Many items (large-piece puzzles, large print books, stuffed animals, and tactile toys) are re-distributed to seniors affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia and confined to care facilities.
"Sew Special": TRM seeks local, national, and global volunteers (“virtual volunteers) through knitting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting groups, and individuals to participate in creating Christmas stockings for our youth and lap blankets for our seniors (individual creativity strongly encouraged!). Also needed: doll blankets & booties.
Birthday Program: Each child receives: 3 gifts PLUS 1 stuffed animal, 3 books, gift wrap, and party supplies!.
Bear Hugs: Provides stuffed toys for seniors in care facilities; many having Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Book Buddies: Program to promote literacy, imagination, and visual recognition through the pairing of books with matching stuffed animal or fast-food toy characters.
Pass It Along: Program encourages recipient youth and/or their parents to become involved as volunteers in the restoration process, and experience the joy of giving back to the community!
Project Turn-Around: volunteer activities that promote self-worth and encourage positive behavior while fulfilling court-mandated community service (working with probation officers in diversion programs for misdemeanants).
Project Special Skills: Working with individuals and agencies serving populations that are physically, emotionally or mentally challenged, to provide projects that can be adapted to their special abilities and needs.
Family Time: Strengthening families by providing off-site (check-out) projects for the family unit to share. Children as young as four years old are our "Toy Experts and Consultants" and play a crucial role in the identification of toys sometimes unfamiliar to their adult counterparts!
Budding Artists: Providing children and teens with arts and craft supplies that encourage self-expression, and the tools to explore their personal creativity.
Community volunteer opportunities: for church groups, seniors, scout troops, schools, workplace-endorsed volunteering, and social service clubs (the list is endless!).
